Following on from the successful workshop on ‘Employer Sponsored Volunteering Schemes’ held by Business/Management Schools of the Universities of Hull and Sheffield in July 2011, the Universities would like to invite you to participate in the second workshop in this series. Taking a lead from the key themes that emerged from the first workshop the focus of the second event will be around the topic of ‘Making Agendas Meet’.

Why Should You Attend?
The key aim of this event is to provide a forum for public, private and third sectors organisations to come together to discuss the key issues and challenges emerging in this field as a consequence of the growth of employer sponsored volunteering. It aims to offer a space where we can share perspectives, learn from the different agendas and find some common ground to take things forward. The workshop will also be used to develop a collaborative research proposal to carry out a large scale research project in this area that offers both practice and academic value.

Agenda:

·      9.00 - registration and coffee

·      9.30 – 10.40 Opening plenary (t.b.c)

-      Chris Howell (Kingston Upon Hull city Council) – Initiatives underway in Hull

-      Nicola Storey (Safe at Last/John Lewis Partnership) – The John Lewis Secondment Scheme

-      Gavin Milligan (William Jackson Food Group) – Identifying and Valuing volunteering

·      10.40-11.00- Refreshments break

·      11.00-12.00 – Working Group Discussions

·      12.00-1.15 – closing plenary

·      1.15 – Lunch

The event combines presentation and working group formats, to ensure there is plenty of space for open discussion.

Who Should Attend?
The workshop is free to attend and is open to all groups, public, private and third sector.
